BB GLOW

Semi-Permanent Make up (Foundation)

What is BB Glow and how does BB Glow work?

BB Glow is a facial treatment that creates a semi-permanent make up foundation effect, giving an even skin tone as well as brighter, more radiant and glowing skin.

This treatment originates from Korea and is KFDA-approved.  It is an advanced microneedling technique that uses Stayve pigments/serums to penetrate the skin.  The Stayve pigments and serums have niacinamide (this helps build keratin which is a protein that keeps your skin firm and healthy) and peptide (a protein that is the building blocks for collagen, elastin, and keratin) for effective brightening and anti-aging benefits.  They help hydrate your skin so it is perfect for dry, sun-damaged, uneven, tired, and sensitive skin.  The Stayve pigments and serums are NOT tested on animals.  This treatment is great for the wake-up with make-up look and unlike BB creams and foundation it does not clog up your pores.

The pigments and/or serums are microneedled into the skin which gives you the benefits of the microneedling treatment as well.  Please note, however, that for the BB Glow treatment, the micro needles do not penetrate the skin as deep as microneedling.  So, although you will have some of the benefits of microneedling, if you desire a dramatic reduction in scarring, hyper-pigmentation, and age spots, I would recommend you have a course of microneedling first before having the BB Glow treatment.

The benefits:

For BB Glow, here at Oh Hello You Beauty Stayve is used which has pigments and serums, which give different benefits.  Both the serums and pigments help with reduced pigmentation appearance, improve sun damaged skin, give you a more even skin tone and a healthy glow look.

The Stayve pigments are used to give the wake up with make-up, semi-permanent make up foundation look and come in a range of shades.  You will be colour matched before the treatment begins and after a course of four treatments you will have a sheer foundation look.

The Stayve serums, can be added as a booster at an additional cost with a pigment, or can be used on their own.

BB Glow procedure:

The room will be sanitized before you arrive.  When you arrive, we will go through the procedure, the desired outcome and health and safety which would have been emailed to you beforehand.  You can ask as many questions as you want before the treatment takes place.  Age identification will be checked then you will read and sign the consent form and before photos will be taken.  You will then be asked to tie your hair back and to wear a hair net before laying on the treatment bed.  If you have opted to have the BB Glow pigment treatment for the semi-permanent make up foundation look, you will be colour matched.  Then all make-up will be removed and your face will be cleansed twice with a glycolic based cleanser followed by an alcohol wipe.  A one-time use pre-sanitized micro needle will be opened in front of you.  The BB glow treatment will be performed with an automatic microneedling device or derma pen and the chosen Stayve pigment or serum.  Afterwards, a cooling face mask will be applied for ten minutes.  If you have decided you want the LED light therapy treatment added at an additional cost to the BB glow treatment, this will then be performed.  An after photo will be taken and all aftercare advice will be reiterated to you.  Please ask any questions you have.

The Treatment process:

Treatment frequency:

For BB glow pigment, a course of 4 treatments where each treatment is 2 weeks apart.  Then a top up treatment every 3 months will keep the semi-permanent make up foundation look.

Avoid touching the treated area for at least 24 hours after the procedure and it is recommended you change your pillow case.

Dry skin can occur after the treatment and it is highly recommended to use a hydrating skin care cream with SPF 30 or above after the treatment even if you do not experience dry skin.

There will generally be redness where the treatment has occurred, this is normal and will usually clear within a few hours but can persist up to 2 or 3 days in some cases.

You might experience some itchiness in the treated area due to the release of histamines, which is normal and can be reduced with anti-histamine medication.

The treated skin may feel tender to touch but this will subside.

In rare cases there may be bruising, swelling or a mark where the needles have entered the skin.
