Semi-Permanent Eyeliner Enhancement in Southsea, Portsmouth

Semi permanent cosmetic eyeliner enhancement tattooing

What is Eyeliner enhancement  and how does it work?

Eyeliner Enhancement is a form of cosmetic tattooing where a machine is used to implant a specialised hypoallergenic pigment into the dermal layer (lower layer) of the skin directly on the lash line of your upper eyelid. As the pigment placed through the lash line rather than above them this treatment blends into your lashes giving your lashes a fuller and darker effect while framing your eye.

The full treatment requires 2 sessions 6 to 8 weeks apart and a top up treatment is advised every 12 to 14 months to keep your eyeliner enhancement looking fresh.

The benefits:

The best thing about having eyeliner enhancement is it will never smudge and will be always perfect as it's professional drawn. It will enhance your eyes and make your lashes look fuller.

Prior to the treatment:

You’ll need to have a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment. No alcohol within 48 hours of your appointment.

The Eyeliner Enhancement procedure:

You can pre-numb topically before you arrive and it’s advisable to eat something before. The room will be sanitized before you arrive. When you arrive, we will go through the procedure, the desired outcome and health and safety which would have been discussed with you beforehand. You can ask as many questions as you wish before the treatment takes place. Age identification will be checked then before photos will be taken. You’ll be asked to wear a hair net, contact lenses must be removed and then your eye area will be cleansed and then sanitised.

The pigment will be chosen and when you’re happy, the cosmetic tattooing machine will be used to implant the pigment through your lash line on the dermal layer of the skin. Once the first pass has been completed on both eyelids, the residue pigment will be wiped away and the process will be repeated 2 more times.

You’ll then be sat up to see your beautiful freshly eyeliner enhanced eyes. An after photo will be taken and all aftercare advice will be reiterated to you and you will provided an aftercare pack. Please ask any questions you have.

  • Drink plenty of water.

  • Pat your eyelid dry with a clean tissue.

  • Do admire your lips.

  • Do dab a petit pois pea sized amount of ointment aftercare wound dressing gel 3 times a day for 5 days.

Important! The list of do not’s:

  • Don’t pick at scabs, tug, or scratch the eye area.

  • Avoid taking naproxen, ibuprofen, or aspirin as these can increase bleeding and bruising.

  • Avoid touching, wear makeup on or around the eyes for at least 14 days after your appointment.

  • Avoid swimming, saunas, long hot showers or activates which will you sweat for at least 14 days after your appointment, as this will encourage your skin to expel the pigment.

  • Avoid sunbathing or sun beds for 28 days after your appointment

  • Avoid smoking & alcohol it will negatively affect the healing process!

The recovery process, which you may have all or none of or anywhere in-between:

Day 1:

Your eyelids will be swollen and sore. You can also expect lymph build up, which you need to clean with a cotton bud.

Your fresh eyeliner enhancement looks very dark and that can make you regret getting it. Don’t panic! The pigment will fade up to 50% until the permanent eyeliner healing process is through. The true colour will only emerge after about 3 weeks.

Day 2:

Your eyelids feel tight but he swelling on your eyelids should be better by now; it may even subside completely. Your eyelids may feel tight and the lash area is sensitive. Don’t touch it, just clean the area gently and apply a petit pois pea sized ointment with a cotton bud.

Day 3 to 4:

The scabbing and flaking stage starts. Most people experience it and it is a perfectly normal part of the semi-permanent eyeliner enhancement healing process – it means your skin is closing up the wounds.

Never pick at the scabs no matter how itchy they get! A certain amount of pigment gets caught in the scabs and if you rip them off before the pigments settle, you’ll create non-pigmented patches. Let the flaking and peeling stage proceed at its own pace.

This is the hardest stage to deal with. The area is itchy and it doesn’t look very attractive. Luckily, it doesn’t last too long, and you can relieve the itchiness with a petit pois pea sized ointment.

Day 5 to 10:

Flaking continues and at the end of it, the eyeliner enhancement looks faded. Don’t panic and think that the pigment’s disappeared. The colour will return.

Day 11 to 28:

The colour is back and your permanent eyeliner healing process will continue for a few more weeks, but you won’t see the unattractive symptoms anymore. The colour may gradually soften.

6 to 8 weeks: It’s time for your top up treatment

The top up will allow me to check on how your skin has healed, as well as top up the colour and fill in any patchy bits.

12 to 14 months: It’s time for your maintenance appointment

You may on the day experience excess lymph fluid (lymph is a clear fluid-like substance which might slightly ooze from the skin), this is part of the normal healing process and you need to gently blot (don’t rub) the area with a clean tissue but don’t hold the tissue onto the area. Don’t let the lymph fluid dry on the skin and form a crust because when the crust falls off the pigment may come off with it.
